Refaeli told Israel's Channel 10 TV that she had an iPad in a suitcase that was lost in transit. She said she didn't declare the iPad upon entrance to Israel for a brief commercial appearance. She is now required to pay 650 shekels ($170) in taxes and fines to get it back.

Israel lifted its ban on the popular tablet computer two weeks ago. The restrictions were initially imposed over concerns the Apple Inc. gadget's wireless signal could disrupt other devices.

Grey Imports of iPad Available in KL now..

The decision by Apple to delay the release of its iPad overseas has given the impetus to enterprising parties to cash in on local fans who cannot wait to get their hands on the device.

A check on popular local forums such as Lowyat.net revealed that iPads are already being sold on the forum by some users. Parallel importers have also gotten into the business of selling iPads in IT malls, including Digital Mall in Section 14 here.

Prices for these grey imports range from RM2,400 to RM2,900 for the 16GB WiFi version. The official price for a similar iPad on the official US Apple online store is US$499 (RM1,600) before tax.

The company has not revealed pricing for overseas markets yet.

MacBook Pro Refresh Out in April 13 2010

Posted on/at 3:10:00 PM by SBdude

Apple MacBook Pro Refresh Out in April 13 2010

Apple will finally update the MacBook Pro on April 13th, a source claims. While the person's identity is being kept secret, the source is described as "familiar with Apple product cycles and inventory levels."

Every MacBook Pro model is expected to receive new hardware, though exact specifications are have not been mentioned. The MacBook Air may also see a refresh, but this is not guaranteed; like the Pro, the Air was last upgraded in June 2009.

New MacBook Pro configurations have been anticipated for some time, to the extent that they could be considered overdue by Apple's usual schedule. The company may already have plenty to promote however, namely iPhone 4.0 and the iPad, the latter of which has yet to roll out internationally or in a 3G version.

The new MacBook Pros are widely predicted to switch to Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. They may also gain an extra hour of battery life in some cases, and options for 640GB hard disks or 256GB SSDs. A shortage of processors on Intel's end may be to blame for the refresh delay.

Digi iPhone and Maxis iPhone Plan Comparison - 2010 Review

Posted on/at 6:21:00 PM by SBdude

Maxis iPhone vs Digi iPhone Price and Data Comparison

Ok, the post that some of us might have been waiting for. The price and data package comparison between  Maxis iPhone and Digi iPhone. Who will win the battle in the long term ? I can safely assumed that iPhone 3Gs are targeted at the younger generations.

If you are in that category which iPhone 3GS would you purchase from ? Maxis or Digi ? Here's the brief comparison and I'm you will know which is the most suitable choice. Just say I've targeted an iPhone 3GS 16GB. Its enough for me to surf the web, play some casual games or just listen to music.

Data package wise, of course the cheaper the better but offers better value right ? as majority of you would not be using your iPhone to do heavy downloading and doing massive calling. That is what I assumed, could be different with other users.

Without further adieu, I will put up the iPhone 3GS packages of Maxis and Digi for you to compare
Digi iPhone 3G/3GS plans

Therefore, I would chose iDigi88 as its the cheapest that DiGi can offer. I just need to pay RM88 for 200min call time, 200 SMS, 20MMS(to all networks) and 1GB of data capping. Best thing is, you will not pay extra for exceeding the data cap.

I will choose the iPhone 3GS 16GB by paying installments which is the EPP 24 which I need to RM159 per month for 2 years inclusive of the iDigi88 plan. Next up is Maxis iPhone plan.

Maxis iPhone 3GS/3G plan

The cheapest to choose is the iValue 1 which I need to pay RM100 for 333minutes of call time, 100 SMS, 10MMS and 500MB of data capping. But if you exceed the data capping, you need to pay for the extra bandwidth.

Another downside is that, you are required to pay full upfront for an iPhone 3GS which RM1390 but they do offer 0% interest free installments. Can't see the payments from the website but if calculated by yourself, its about RM58 just for the phone itself. Total up with RM100 of iValue1, it comes up to RM158 per month.

The verdict ? Maxis won the battle by offering RM1 lower than its Digi counterpart and thats merely the whole story. Haha, just joking. Read further.

The stats above shows you that Digi is actually the clear winner by offering double the call time, SMS, MMS and Data cap than that of Maxis. The biggest advantage Digi had over Maxis was the no extra payment for exceeding the data capping. FTW !!

If you are still not aware that DiGi is currently offering iPhone 3G/3GS, read more here @ http://starbucks87dude.blogspot.com/2010/04/digi-iphone-3gs-2010-package-unveiled.html

Digi iPhone 3GS 2010 Package Unveiled !! Very Affordable !!

Posted on/at 12:30:00 PM by SBdude

The New Digi iPhone 3GS Package

The moment everyone's been waiting for !! Yes,its the release of Apple iPhone latest packages from Digi. From as low as RM106 per month, you are entitled of this awesome iPhone with free call time, SMS and Internet access nickname the iDigi package.

And the best part of all, you do not need to change to a new number, in this case to a Digi number if you are using the services of other operator. How cool is that !!

Without further adieu, I will let the picture or price below to do the talking. Be prepared to drool over it yo !!
Digi iPhone packages of iDiGi 88, iDiGi 138, iDiGi 238

Each package comes with unlimited Internet access and even if you exceeded the data cap for any packages, there are no extra charges applied !! Damn awesome I tell you !!

Payment options for the Digi iPhone

I am very interested in the iPhone 3GS 16GB + iDigi 88 plan. Therefore, I had made a rough calculation on the payment. If I would to pay with EPP aka installment for 24 month it would set me back RM159 per month.

Yeaps, I'm so poor that I cant even buy the iPhone in one whole lump sum, therefore paying by EPP 24 is not a bad idea after all. Here's an easy calculation hopefully you wont get lost in the whole process.

RM159 ( EPP/month ) - RM88 ( iDiGi 88) = RM71 ( iPhone/month )

RM71 x 24 = RM1704 ( iPhone after 24 months)

RM1704 - RM1590 = RM114 (difference of a lump sum and EPP iPhone)

If you divide the RM114 by 24 months = RM4.75 per month extra !!

So what's the point of doing this calculation you will ask. Well, actually by paying an extra close to RM5 per month, you get to enjoy the awesome iPhone with the cool package without having to break the bank for one lump sum of it and then paying an extra RM88 per month for the service.

If paying extra is not your thing and you can compromise with your gadget's speed, then iPhone 3G will suit you more.

Collect your pre-ordered iPhone from DiGi now !!

All in all, DiGi had come out with an awesome and affordable iPhone package compared to Maxis. Well which telco provider will lead the iPhone war ? Maxis or DiGi ? Yet to be told but I'm sniffing that there will be a price war starting soon.

Well, I think I will post up on the comparison of iPhone package pricing between Digi and Maxis soon. Stay tune kay !!

In the meantime, do surf on http://www.digi.com.my/iphone/ for more info.

Apple iPad Finally Launched - 2010 Review

Posted on/at 9:48:00 PM by SBdude

Apple latest tablet computer, iPad !!

After weeks and even months of speculations, Apple has finally released their first ever tablet computer yesterday at San Francisco. And yes, it's not called the iSlate or iTablet, believe it or not, the new tablet is called the Apple iPad !! How interesting !

This very anticipated iPad weighs only 680g with only 0.5inch thick for a large form factor tablet. Imagine it as a bigger brother to your iPhone or iPod Touch and yes they worked almost the same way albeit the size differences.

Looks exactly like an iPhone but bigger and widther

What are the specs for this Apple iPad ? It runs on a custom 1GHz Apple A4 processor chip that handles both processing and graphics performance. It is also fully network capable with 802.11n WiFi and 3G connectivity.

It will ship with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of Flash memory. Apple claims the device has up to 10 hours of battery life and that it can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge.

A big 9.7in LED backlit display (1,024 x 768-pixels) with multitouch capabilities and has a built-in accelerometer.

Interestingly the iPad syncs with a Mac or PC over the same 30-pin sync cable that the iPhone uses, so it can sync all your photos, music, videos and applications in the same manner.

improved graphics enabling user to play 3D games
Giving the Amazon Kindle a run for its money, the iPad also functions as an e-book reader, courtesy of Apple’s new iBooks application. The iPad will use Apple’s new iBookstore that will feature books from major and independent publishers.

The iPad comes in two versionsone with WiFi and the other with both WiFi and 3G.

It will go on sale in late March, with prices starting at US$499 (RM1,697) for WiFi-only models and up to US$829 (RM2,818) for the WiFi- and 3G-enabled 64GB model.

Maybe the accessories will be their saviour
My verdict ?
PROS - With its larger size, the iPad's virtual keyboard comes a step closer than the iPhone's to replicating a real keyboard, with "keys" people can touch with two hands and all of their fingers.

CONS - The iPad is designed to run just one application on the screen at time and doesn't allow multitasking. It also lacks a built-in camera to take photos and video and the ability to play Flash-based content on web sites.

Latest 13-inch MacBook by Apple

Apple had just launched their latest MacBook or I should rephrased it as a bumped up MacBook with some changes to the build. Utilizing the unibody contruction of a MacBook Pro, it is very inevitable that Apple had focused it in all their latest MacBook line. Currently available on Apple Store.
